Blog Guidelines
Blog Guidelines
.
1. Treat the “learnerblog/edublog spaces” as “classroom spaces” — use appropriate language and be sure that anything you write you are proud of and are prepared to take responsibility for !! Your blog exists as a public space on the Internet. When you put something on the Internet, odds are really good that it will ALWAYS stay on the Internet. If you are not careful about what you write, what you write now could come back to haunt you in the future.
2. Never EVER EVER give out or record personal information on your blog.
Please – no last names, phone numbers, home addresses, IM screen names etc. (It is probably not wise to give out your personal email address either).
Again, your blog is a public space on the Internet and anyone, anywhere, could be reading it. So….don’t share anything that you don’t want the world to know. (Check out Blogsafety)
3. Never disrespect anyone or anything in your blog posts. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a person, an organization, or just a general idea. When you write your opinion on a topic, you don’t want someone making a stab at what you are passionate about. So, don’t do it to someone else. Try your best to make sure you’re not going to offend anyone in your posts.
4. Don’t write about other people without permission; if you can’t get their permission, use first names or initials only. Never share someone elses last name.
5. Always check over your post for spelling errors, grammar errors, and your use of words. (HINT: Try pasting your post in a word processor first and using the spell checker or use an internet spellchecker before posting on your blog.)
6. Make sure things you write about are factual. Link to your sources. But never link to something you haven’t read and understood completely. When you link to something, make sure it is something that you really want to be associated with. If a link contains material that might be in poor taste or make some people uncomfortable, you should probably warn readers by using a parenthetical note or some other word of caution.
7. If you have a personal blog, please do not link to it from our class blog. Doing so may inadvertently reveal information that you don’t want to reveal.
8. Be aware of copyright — especially with sounds and images. Make sure what you use is copyright free !! (Just because you find it on the internet does not mean you are free to use it without permission !!) Please review Copyright Issues on the Web and be sure to see Copyright 1” and “Copyright 2” for more information.
9. Keep it education-oriented. Stick to tasks set in class. Unless it pertains to the assignment, stay away from discussing plans for the weekend, general rambling, or diary entries about nothing. Chances are your responses to class tasks will usually be far more interesting!!

Mr. J.
On my snow day my mom, brother, and I went and ran arrends. Then we came home and went over to visit with my grandparents. When I was over there I started to convert Jingle Bells on the piano to my own version. Resulting in I can play jingle bells on the piano. I was extremely excited so when I got home I finished my conversion and then learned practiced playing it on my electric piano. I have practiced but I only can remember the first couple of notes from memory. During that time I also made sugar cookies for builders club. This task was very frustrating because I had to roll the dough on a cutting board. This made the dough stick to the rolling pin. At around 4 my mom brother and I started to play Phase Ten. I came in one hand late and then ended up winning by one phase ahead of them. That is basically what I did on my snow day.

What do you think of when you hear the word motion? Maybe science or even racecars. In reality motion is really everywhere you go. When I think of motion I think of going places or the speed of things. In this case motion has to do with a favorite sport known as hockey. I picked an article from the local newspaper about the Lakeland girl’s hockey team. The score ended at 6 – 1 and it was a great success for the team. So what does hockey have to do with motion? Well it’s the fast pucks shooting around and the players dashing across the ice.
So how exactly does this happen? Well when the puck goes flying through out the rink it has motion. You can tell it has motion because over TIME the POSITION changes. If you look around you, you can always tell where motion is all you need to know is where the position moved over a time period. As you can see motion isn’t just in science or racing. You can find motion in just about everything. Think of your favorite sport can you make the connection? All you have to remember is the change of position over time.

At what age do you think it is appropriate for students to reveal personal information about themselves online?

Connecticut Ballet Teaches Lessons Of Gravity And Motion In Danbury
http://www.newstimes.com/news/article/Connecticut-Ballet-teaches-lessons-of-gravity-and-1020501.php
By: Maya
In Danbury, Connecticut, the Connecticut Ballet members put on a show for the kids of Ellsworth Avenue School. This was not a normal show though. They expressed Newton’s Three Laws through dance. They showed how gravity and acceleration affects the human body, and many other things. They wanted to show kids of many different ages the State Mandated Science Curriculum in a new way. The director and man who played Sir Isaac Newton was Brett Raphael. Raphael wanted to show kids a simpler way to understand Newton’s Three Laws. Raphael says “The same law that governs the way the planets move, governs the way dancers move.” Not just dancers though, everyone and everything.
I believe the whole reason the Connecticut Ballet did this for the children, was to give them a memorable experience. Many kids (I admit I do) tend to tune out during some classes, because of boredom, but using new, and older dance to teach Science, truly captivates the children’s minds. The whole show consisted of teaching the kids the types of Motion, and the concepts of acceleration and gravity, sometimes boring things, but in dance, not so much. I truly believe that this was an amazing thing to do.
